Some major changes have been made to the criteria for Distinguished Talent and Global Talent visas (Subclass 124 and 858). These are visa pathways for people who have an internationally recognised record of exceptional and outstanding achievement in an eligible field.
Provisions have been created that will expand the number of eligible applicants as of 14 November 2020.
- Visa subclass 124 (for offshore applicants) has been discontinued, and those wishing to apply for this visa type are now eligible to apply for subclass 858 while outside Australia
- Health waivers are now available to main applicants and secondary applicants with ongoing medical conditions
- Provision has been created to allow offshore family members to be included in onshore applications. This means that if you are currently in Australia and want to apply for a Distinguished Talent visa, you can also include family members in your application who are currently offshore
- Other significant changes have been made to the operation of the visas and we can discuss these in more detail with you
REMINDER: if you wish to apply for a visa under one of these pathways and an applicant has an ongoing health condition, you will still be required to apply for a health waiver.
At GLC, we offer experienced assistance with health waivers and would be delighted to assist you.
